How does UMBRA work?

How is security fog different from a traditional alarm?

XENTRI uses solid cartridges to produce exceptionally dense, high-volume fog without relying on conventional liquid reservoirs or fluid-delivery systems.

Is security fog safe for people and pets?
UMBRA is designed for use in residential and commercial environments.
As with any security fog system, safe operation depends on correct installation, appropriate activation settings and compliance with the manufacturer’s safety guidance.
Will the fog damage furniture, electronics or valuables?
UMBRA is intended to help protect valuable property by reducing an intruder’s ability to see.
Suitability for sensitive electronics, specialist furnishings and other materials should be confirmed against the manufacturer’s fog composition and residue specifications.
What happens after UMBRA has been activated?
Once the property is secure, the affected area can be ventilated in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions.
Any discharged cartridges must be replaced before the system is ready for another deployment.
What happens if the system activates accidentally?
An unintended activation should be treated in accordance with the system’s safety and operating instructions.

Is installing UMBRA invasive?
UMBRA operates on a 12V power supply and is designed for straightforward installation by a qualified electrician.
The system can use a suitable nearby electrical source with the appropriate regulated power supply and wiring.
The amount of installation work required depends on the property, mounting location and chosen alarm integration.
Can UMBRA work with my existing alarm system?
UMBRA is designed to integrate with compatible professional security alarm systems.
This allows fog deployment to form part of your existing security response. Compatibility should be confirmed before installation.
Where can UMBRA be installed?
UMBRA is designed for discreet installation in suitable residential and commercial environments.
Potential applications include living areas, entrance points, home offices, bedrooms and other high-value spaces, subject to site assessment and installation requirements.
How many UMBRA units will my property need?
The number of units depends on your property’s layout, room volumes and the areas requiring protection.
A single six-cartridge UMBRA unit has a combined rated fog coverage of up to 600m³. Actual deployment planning should consider the room configuration and required level of obscuration.

How often do UMBRA cartridges need replacing?
UMBRA’s solid cartridges are guaranteed to last more than five years under the manufacturer’s specified storage and operating conditions.
We recommend replacing cartridges every five years to maintain dependable system performance.
Does UMBRA require regular maintenance?
Solid-cartridge technology eliminates the need for conventional liquid reservoirs, pumps and fluid-delivery systems.
Routine system checks and periodic cartridge replacement should be carried out in accordance with the manufacturer’s maintenance instructions.
Can cartridges be replaced after deployment?
Yes. UMBRA uses replaceable solid cartridges.
Following deployment, discharged cartridges can be replaced in accordance with the manufacturer’s servicing procedure, restoring the system’s available fog capacity.
How long does the security fog remain in a room?
Fog persistence depends on the room size, ventilation, air movement and deployment conditions.
UMBRA is designed to generate dense fog that rapidly reduces visibility. The duration of obscuration will vary between environments.
